Hard Rock and AOR/Melodic Rock
Ramblings [4/5]
The Guestz are a fairly new Sleaze band from Rome, Italy.
Yup, you read that right, Rome, Italy! The band formed in
2006 with band members Mimmo God on Lead Vocals and Guitar,
Jonna on Guitar and Backround vocals, Rob ‘n’ Roll on Bass
and Backround Vocals and last but certainly not least, Matt
Svarione kickin’ ass on the Drums and Backround Vocals. The
hard part about this review is trying to describe what these
guys are like. They are definetly a vintage Sleaze Rock
style band, but with a vocalist who has a Bon Scott of AC/DC
kind of style in his singing, which by the way, is not bad
at all! It’s like taking all of the best Sleaze Rock bands
of the 80’s, smashing them toghether and raising Bon Scott
from the dead to sing for them, how ’bout that!
Every year, I’m more and more surprised at the amount of new
bands from over seas who are still carrying the torch for
the “Old School 80’s Rock Sound”. This by no means is a bad
thing! In fact, guys starting bands here in the states
should take a fuckin’ lesson from these newer Sleaze bands
in Europe, and get back to making some damn good Rock-n-Roll
for a change! If I’ve said it before, I’m saying it again;
People here in the United States are tired of that EMO and
Nu Metal shit that the record companies here seem to love
shoving down our throats! It has been proven here with the
Classic 80’s Rock Festivals that this music still sells and
people want the good time Rock-n-Roll we know and love back
in the mainstream! And they wonder why they can’t get the
record buying public here to buy records anymore!? Gee, it
doesn’t take a fuckin’ Rocket Scientist dumb asses!
Anyhow, onto The Guestz! Their debute CD begins with the
tune Jonna Wants Two Beers and doesn’t stop kickin’ your ass
from that point on! Really, there isn’t enough good things
on this planet that I can say about these guys. They are
just a good old fashioned rock band that has really came out
swingin’ for the fences with this release. Sure, it’s only 5
songs long, but so what! That just makes you want more! And
from what I’ve read on their Myspace page, there will
definetly be more to come from these guys and I for one,
can’t wait! Tracks on this EP include: Jonna Wants Two Beers,
Piracy, House Of Rock ( a fantastic party rock tune to the
max!), Naked Alice and In The Blink Of An Eye, all great
tunes to play whether your throwin’ a huge party, or just
going for a cruise in the car on your favorite cruisein’
strip. There is definetly not a bad song in the bunch here.
In fact, the only thing I can see that may even bring this
EP down at all is the fact that it’s too short! This is
definetly a MUST HAVE for any 80’s Rock enthusiast and fan
of the newer Sleaze bands. In short, The Guestz will
definetly give the Swedish Sleaze bands a run for their
money for sure! Yes, they are that damn good! This EP is
musically sound and produced very, very well for an upstart
band. Nothing about this EP screams that it is over produced
in any way. It all sounds very natural, the way bands like
this should sound! Very clear and very crisp from the word
“Go”. You can listen to the tunes from this EP at their
Myspace page, www.myspace.com/theguestz and you can pick up
your own copy from www.theguestz.com ! I highly recomend
that you do and see for your self just how damn good these
guys are! I can tell you that you definetly will NOT be
disappointed! The Guestz fuckin’ ROCK, period!
