Rock Eyez [3/5]
THE GUESTZ release their debut CD “Not for Money Just for
Glory” on Illegal Records. Call it want you want but THE
GUESTZ bring Sleaze back with that 80’s edge.
The first cut, ”Jonna Wants Two Beers”, is a kicker with
fist raising chants or wants. In this case two beers! The
vocals done by Mimmo God, Yea that’s what it says in the
credits, is not the greatest singer, but with an Italia
accent and a sort of Bon Scott style, it fits the music real
well.
“Piracy” has some cool riffs and not complicated harmonies
but an “all sing along style,” where if you went to see them
it would probably demand your attention.
I checked out there website and the photo section, as to no
surprise my hunch was right, these guys look like they are
having the time of their lives!
Isn’t that is what it’s all about? “House of Rock” is
another dirty sounding ol’ fashion rock tune, not for me but
being this only a five-song release CD it runs well with the
other songs. The band consisting of singer Mimmo God on
vocals, as mentioned previously. Guitars are provided by
Jonna “Two beers” Jonna has a real good sound and provides
high energy throughout the CD. Rob ‘n’ Roll on bass holds
down the bottom end as does Matt the drummer. Come on guys
you could have given Matt a cool name too, like the rest of
you cats! How about Matty two Shots!
Anyway, the last two cuts “Naked Alice” and “In The Blink Of
An Eye” are what you would expect, nothing fancy, just down
and dirty!
If you enjoy the ol’school sleaze rock, THE GUESTZ will help
you get your fill. If they come to a city near you, go see
them; it looks like one wild time!
Rock On!
